Un mutant de la famille HaFaBra? Un crew de hip-hop qui a fait surface illégalement? Ou un événement de peinture sonore? Bakanaï est un collectif coloré d’instruments à vents, de percussions et de danse, dirigé par Laurent Blondiau, Bodé Owa et Joachim Noël.

Il ne s'agit pas d'un groupe de musique, mais d'un laboratoire où des artistes professionnels et amateurs expérimentent ensemble. À partir de tous leurs horizons différents, les danseurs et les musiciens élaborent un répertoire commun. Ils exploitent les motifs rythmiques les plus complexes, mais tout reste dansable. Un Rubiks Cube musical dans lequel chaque mouvement mène à de nouvelles possibilités.

Le flux continu de musique et de danse crée parfois un sentiment de transe chez les musiciens et le public. Le meilleur de Fela Kuti & Afrika 70 et de Sun Ra Arkestra réunis, avec un ADN profondément bruxellois.

Een mutant uit de HaFaBra familie? Een illegaal opgedoken hiphop crew? Of een soundpainting happening? Bakanaï is een kleurrijk collectief van blazers, percussionisten en dansers onder leiding van Laurent Blondiau, Bodé Owa en Joachim Noël.

Niet zomaar een muziekgroep, maar een lab waar zowel professionele als amateurperformers experimenteren met grooves en moves. Vanuit al hun verschillende achtergronden, werken dansers en muzikanten een gemeenschappelijk repertoire uit. Ze boren de meest complexe ritmepatronen aan, maar toch blijft alles dansbaar. Een muzikale Rubiks Cube waarbij elke beweging tot nieuwe mogelijkheden leidt.

De continue flow van muziek en dans wekt bij momenten een gevoel van trance op bij muzikanten en publiek. Het beste van Fela Kuti & Afrika 70 en Sun Ra Arkestra samen, met een op en top Brussels DNA.

Not just a music band, but a kind of laboratory where both professional and amateur artists can try out new things and learn from each other. Bringing in their different backgrounds and artistic luggage, the dancers and musicians develop a common repertoire. They juggle with all kinds of riffs and rhythms on a sizzling and continuously swelling baseline. A musical Rubik's Cube offering new directions at every turn.
